"Tensions” by Mike Pitzer

$5,000.00

Sometimes people take a position that they see as “black & white”. You were either on their side — or you are the enemy. There is no compromise. No attempt to understand. No alternate point of view. Total and complete capitulation to their thinking is the only acceptable position.

I tried to capture that strain through the ripping and cracking of the paint to revealing a thin, red line separating one side from the other. If you look at the base molding or chair rail, you’ll see pooled blood that dripped from the painting. That blood symbolized the intensity of those black and white positions and why, in my family, many of those beliefs have not healed to this day.
