Back around 1999, I started photographing every old, vintage neon sign I saw. I found most driving the freeways, catching something out of the corner of my eye, I’d jump off at the first exit. Over the next two decades, I shot over a hundred run-down and weather-beaten neon signs. Sometimes I’d go back wanting to reshoot the sign, and it had been torn down, which got me thinking…”I need to do a book about vanishing America…” These are a few of my favorite photo/art pieces from the “Signs of a Vanishing America” series.
